Meet baby X. She arrived at our Shanxi orphan care project in February. Little X was abandoned in a Styrofoam box with a note stating that her family was unable to care for her. Although she was in an insulated cooler and covered with a quilt, it was a cold day and her body temperature was very low when she was found. She weighed only four and a half pounds and the note confirmed that she had been born the day before.
X was hypothermic when she arrived at the orphanage, and her oxygen levels were quite low. She was hospitalized for a few days to stabilize, and when she was ready to discharge the orphanage asked if she could come to our project. We had recently accepted another newborn boy who was also found in the frigid temperatures, so our staff was very busy caring for these adorable cold weather “twins”.
Little X has been doing very well since she came to us. She appears to have fully recovered from her rough start and does not show any signs of other medical issues. We are hopeful that she will someday be able to join a family of her own. Thank you for being there for X.
