Donations!

In 2016, OCF Dew Drops Little Flower was honored to be chosen as a charity supported by Yashily, an infant formula and soy milk product company. This year, they are continuing their support by donating more formula.

Not only do the children at Dew Drops benefit from this generous donation but we are also able to help some of our partner state-run orphanages.

Thank you so much!

Life Hurts

There is a popular song on the internet called “Life’s not fair”. This song is about being consumed by an unrequited love. In real life, many of us have encountered such unexpected circumstances and in these moments it may seem like the worst hurt in the world. But this idea of “hurt” is much bigger than the pains of love and can completely shape a person’s life.

Eight month old Yao was born with multiple limb deformities – a growth on the back of his neck, and is missing some fingers and toes. It is difficult to understand why he was born this way.

How can he walk? How can he pick things up? Even with his challenges, he has learned to overcome and plays with the other children each day. Can you believe it? See for yourself below:

Yao can sit up well

He can stand up straight on one leg

He plays with cars

He even reads books by himself

He plays with balls

He does some stretches in between all the playing

He sees his brothers eating some snacks

"I don’t need my big brother to feed me. I can feed myself" thinks Yao

The taste isn’t that good and it’s a bit too hard. Turns out this is not a snack, it’s a toy!

In the future, I will hopefully be able to have surgery to fix my feet and hands. At that time, I will be able to use my feet and hands even better. Until then, I don’t want others to treat me any different. I might have been born with some ‘hurts’ but my heart is still strong. I can grow up and become a strong boy.

Yao is not limited by his disabilities. He is able to make the most out of his life. What about you - are you limited by life’s unjustness?

I want to play!

Playing the piano takes a lot of skill. Often pianists practice for hours just to be able to play one song perfectly. But for little kids, playing the piano can be a way for them to learn some hand coordination skills and have some fun! One year old, Shuo, who recently had a second stage lip repair surgery, shows us how to play the piano today.

After his surgery, Shuo was able to join the other kids for playtime again. He was very excited after being stuck in his room for a few days, recovering from surgery.

He walked around a bit, trying to pick the perfect toy. He decided to give the toy piano a chance.

He tried using his hands to make some noise!
Then he used his feet!
Then both his feet!
He then decided to try a different position and so squatted to play the piano!

“Maybe if I lay down, the sound will be more beautiful” thinks Shuo.
Shuo shows us how to play the piano – you can squat, you can lie flat, you can use your hands or your feet! It is really up to you. Playing can be a fun outlet for our kids to explore and learn new skills. Don’t you want to join Shuo?!

With Spring Approaching, Beauty Blossoms

A New Look, New Environment, New Goals

Over the past 8 months, OCF Dew Drops Orphan Care Project has provided specialized care to 44 abandoned children from 15 different orphanages throughout China. 2 of these children have been adopted by international families and have started their new lives. The Dew Drops Family Support Project has supported 21 children from 20 families with medical treatment, outpatient examinations, special care training and supplies like milk powder, diapers, and other medical specific items. Through this program we have empowered parents to not abandon their children and encouraged family preservation by providing them with the tools to take care of the medical needs of their children and keep their family together.

Share in the Giving of Chinese New Year!

Chinese New Year, also known as the Spring Festival is a time to celebrate the past year's work and to ring in the new year! One very special tradition that is typical during Chinese New Year is the giving of red envelopes or packets filled with money. These red envelopes are called "Hong bao" in Chinese. Children in China love to receive these red envelopes!

Here at Dew Drops Little Flower, our kids love this Chinese New Year tradition too! Would you like to help us give our kids some red envelopes? Here are some ways that you can get involved!

1.     Post on social media to ask you families and friends to donate money so we can fill our red envelopes
2.    Consider sharing some of your own money that you receive during Chinese New Year to give to the children

Once you've collected the money, you can share it with us and we will fill those red envelopes for all of our 31 children who live here!

We hope that the New Year brings you many blessings and joys. Happy Year of the Rooster from all of us at Dew Drops Little Flower!

Overheard at Dew Drops Little Flower

When newborn babies arrive in this world, they are so small and vulnerable. They have to be taken care of by adults and need 24/7 continuous love and care. It is important that they eat and sleep well, pee and poop regularly, and do not have diaper rashes!

Solex donated some very nice, soothing wipes for the OCF Dew Drops children. Through their work, they hold that their wipes are not merely wipes, but will contribute to the child's growth and well-being.

Our friends, Ms. Li and Ms. Zhang delivered stages 1, 2, and 3 wipes and special hospital-use wipes. These wipes should last about a month for all 30 of the children in Dew Drops. Solex will continue to donate their wipes for the next five months! OCF Dew Drops children enjoyed their wonderful visit by doing some exploring!

Hua to Di and Fei: "Look guys, we are surrounded by love!"

Di to the others: "How about that, we are surrounded by love!"

Hua to Di and Fei: "These wipes are a donation from our friends at Solex."

All: "THANK YOU!"

After having some fun, let’s put these back in the box and store them in the warehouse. Look at Hua and Ci; how determined to help!

Hua knows how to put these back nicely!

He is so proud of his work!

He has been suffering diaper rashes due to complications from his intestinal defects. He is so happy to have these special wipes just for kids like him. Thank you!

When everyone gives a little love, we can all make the world a better place. He has a big grin because of people like you and our friends at Solex!

There are other kids here who also need all of our help. Will you give a little love to provide a chance at life for these orphans?
