Baby Dong Update

Baby Dong's host family reports that he has recovered well from his first surgery and doing very well!  He's starting to eat solid foods and very close to crawling!   His next surgery is scheduled for late August.  The goals for that surgery are to close his cleft palate and do some more work on his right eyelids.

We can't believe what a handsome little fellow he's become!
To learn more about baby Dong's story, see here.

Once again we'd like to express our gratitude to Dong's host mama and all who support her, as well as Dr. Hobar and the entire team at LEAP Foundation.  What an amazing transformation!

    1. His original visa is for one full year, so Dr. Hobar will see how many surgeries can be done in that time. After one year we'll re-evaluate whether to seek a visa extension or have him return to China - this depends not only on his medical situation, but also whether he has an adoptive family pursuing his file.

  2. Little Dong's foster mama was doing updates a while ago but I can't find them now. Do you know if she is still posting updates and, if so, where I can access them on the web? Thanks as always for everything you do for all the precious children in your care!

    2. Lesa, this is Dong (Logan's) mom. We have both been really busy of late and have not posted in a while. Give us til after the US 4th of July holiday and I expect he will be back to posting on a regular basis, and will do some catch up posting as well.

  4. I just wanted to give everyone an update. Baby Dong was adopted officially in November 2014. He has had an additional surgery that is preparing him for work on his right eye in late April. He is growing up so fast and he is so smart. He loves his blocks, reading books, and playing with his tablet.
I am so grateful for all the care that LF gave him in those first months of life and for all the prayers of people on this site.
