Baby Hui arrived two weeks ago, tiny and malnourished. At one month of age she weighed just 4 1/2 lbs. We haven't detected any underlying medical problems, so we expect to see her blossom!

Welcome, Lifeworks 1!
A warm welcome to our Lifeworks International teen volunteers who arrived on Friday. They are getting settled in and learning more about the children we serve. Here they are getting to know the some of the older children in our programs:
Hope they have a great summer!

Min's Feet
Baby Min started casting to correct his club feet in March. (You can see him in this post about Curly Feet.) His feet were stiff and required a total of 7 cast changes, but the results are good now. Look at the transformation in such a short time:
He's now in abduction braces which will help hold the correction. He'll need his braces (just when he sleeps) until he is about 4 years old. He was recovering from a bout of pneumonia when we took this photo, but he still looks pretty happy, doesn't he?

Roundabout
My first Saturday here in China, Megan and I went to a place called Roundabout. It is a charity / secondhand store. In the back room they take in donations and separate all the items. There is a whole list of charities that they give to and one of them is Little Flower. After they sort the items, all the items that cannot be given to charities are sold in the front part of the store. With the money they make, they use it to maintain the store and pay the employees.

Growing Up...
And so handsome! This is our little butterfly baby, from this post here. So hard to believe it is the same baby! He's doing so well, and though his skin is very fragile everywhere, he really only has repeated lesions on his one leg. We are hoping to find him a foster family that is willing and able to meet his special medical needs. And maybe someday he'll have a forever family of his own.
